First Responder Counseling & Intensives

Space to talk.
Time to work on what matters.

Work in fire, EMS, law enforcement, and dispatch can affect more than the hours spent on duty. Difficult calls, cumulative stress, disrupted sleep, and the demands of the job can carry into relationships, health, and everyday life.

I offer individual counseling, focused intensives, and contracted mental health wellness visits. My work combines extensive training in trauma treatment with an understanding of first responder culture.

Individual Counseling

Counseling provides a place to talk openly, understand what is happening, and work toward practical changes. You may want help with a difficult experience, stress, irritability, relationships, or something outside the job.

Appointments may be one-time, weekly, or scheduled at another frequency based on what you want to address and what we determine would be helpful.

I am an independent provider. Your participation in therapy and what you discuss are not reported to your employer, company, or department without your written permission. Confidentiality has legal limits, including required reporting and action when safety is at risk. We review those limits before beginning services.

Focused Intensives

One issue. One extended appointment.
Time to actually work on it.

Sometimes there’s something you need to deal with, but an hour at a time doesn’t feel like enough. A focused intensive is a three-hour appointment that gives us time to understand what’s happening, work through it, and develop practical ways to move forward.

It might be a difficult call that keeps coming back, irritability that’s affecting things at home, several experiences that have started catching up with you, or something outside the job. A brief prescreen helps us identify what you want to address and whether an intensive is a good fit.

During the appointment, we’ll use treatment approaches suited to you and the concern you bring. We’ll take breaks as needed, practice strategies you can use afterward, and leave time to bring the work to a good stopping point.

The intensive is designed to stand on its own. You aren’t signing up for ongoing therapy. Before you leave, we’ll discuss whether anything further would be helpful.

I am an independent provider. Your participation and what you discuss are not reported to your employer, company, or department without your written permission, except when disclosure is legally required.

Mental Health Wellness Visits

An annual mental health wellness visit is available to eligible personnel through a contract with the town.

This one-hour visit provides a check-in, screening for concerns, and education about cumulative trauma and how the job can affect relationships, health, and other areas of life. It is also an opportunity to discuss when additional support may help. Resources and referrals are offered as needed.

Attendance is confirmed as required by the program; the content of the conversation remains confidential except for the reporting requirements explained in the informed consent.

A wellness visit is not a fitness-for-duty evaluation.
