Coparenting Counseling
Finding workable solutions.
Parenting after separation or divorce can be difficult, especially when communication is strained and disagreements keep getting in the way. Coparenting counseling provides a structured place to address those concerns and develop practical ways to manage parenting responsibilities.
My work is child-focused and solution-focused. I help parents work toward clearer communication, resolve specific disagreements, and put their court order or parenting plan into practice.
Coparenting Counseling
Sessions focus on parenting issues that need attention: communication, transitions between homes, sharing information, how to make decisions affecting the children, and more. We develop a parenting plan that may involve more cooperative parenting or more parallel parenting, depending on the family’s needs.
The process begins with individual meetings to understand each parent’s perspective and the family’s needs. Sessions generally involve both parents, with individual meetings when clinically appropriate.
I help parents consider options and make workable decisions together. I do not determine custody or parenting time, enforce court orders, or investigate disputed accounts of past events.
A Collaborative Approach
Clear roles help families and professionals work toward a shared direction. With appropriate permissions, I collaborate with therapists, attorneys, guardians ad litem, and other involved professionals.
